Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Alma College men's lacrosse team fell on the road at Calvin University on Wednesday (Apr. 14) 10-4. With the loss, Alma's record drops 4-9 overall and 1-3 in MIAA play, while the Knights move to 6-2 overall, and 3-0 in the conference.
Calvin would take a 2-0 lead in the first quarter before Ezra Leppanen scored a goal off an assist from Chase Hunyadi. The Scots would tie the game at 2 in the second period when Anar Tumurbaatar scored a man up goal. Calvin would answer would three goals however and take a 5-2 lead at the halftime break.
The Knights kept their foot on the gas in the second half, scoring three straight goals to take an 8-2 lead before Trevor Bailey found the back of the net with just over a minute left in the third quarter. Tumurbaatar would cut the Calvin lead in half in the fourth quarter with a goal, but it wasn't enough. Calvin scored two more goals and earned the 10-4 victory.
Thomas Burns made 10 saves in net for the Scots while Paul Heuschele led the team with five ground balls.
Alma will return home to face the Kalamazoo College Hornets on Friday (Apr. 23) in the final regular season game. The game at Bahlke Field will begin at 7:00 p.m.
