Angola, IN- The Alma College men's lacrosse team earned a road win over host Trine University 11-10 on Saturday evening (Mar. 27). Alma's record is now 2-7 overall. Today's game between the Scots and Thunder did not count in the MIAA standings.
Alma would get on the scoreboard first thanks to Chase Hunyadi. The Thunder would respond with four straight goals and take a 4-1 lead after one quarter. The second quarter saw Hunyadi score three goals off two assists by Trevor Bailey and another one by Byron Weber. Haden Johnson would give Alma a 5-4 lead heading into halftime off an assist by Hunyadi. In the third, Johnson and Hunyadi were at it again when Hunyadi found Johnson two minutes into the third quarter. Lucas Gratz would also score for Alma while Trine added two goals of their own. Connor Alley would join the goal party in the fourth quarter along with Trevor Bailey. Bailey's goal came on a man up situation for the Scots. Johnson and Hunyadi would add the final two goals for the Scots and they were able to hang on for the one goal victory.
Parker Macco made 11 saves in net for Alma. Hunyadi would lead the Scots in both goals and assists with five each. Paul Heuschele and Joey Allen would lead the Scots in groundballs, with both having four. Weber was 5-12 in the faceoff circle.
Alma's next game will be on the road on Thursday (Apr. 1) at Kalamazoo College. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
