Box Score ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College Men's Basketball team held its home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 9, against Bluffton University. The Scots beat the Beavers, 73-59, for their first win of the season.
Alma, who trailed at halftime by four points, came out in the second half ready to play. The Scots eliminated the four-point deficit and began to create a lead of their own, which ultimately ended in a 14-point win. The back-and-forth contest involved four lead changes throughout.
"I thought we came out a little tight tonight in the first half, but we made some adjustments at halftime and the guys did a great job of executing and sticking with the game plan in the second half. The team really turned up the defense in the last 10 minutes and found a way to get it done on that end of the floor, which allowed us to get out and run a bit more as well," said head coach Ryan Clark.
"I am proud of the way they competed tonight and it's definitely a game we can build off moving forward."
Brandon Rake led the Scots with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Cole Kleiver followed behind with 21 points of his own and Peyton Bush contributed a team-high six assists. Alma shot 56.3 percent from the floor while Bluffton shot 39.3 percent.
Alma will be back in action on Saturday, Nov.13, to take on Oberlin College in Art Smith Arena.
