Men's lacrosse comes from behind to defeat Calvin on Senior Night

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College men's lacrosse team posted a come-from-behind win on Senior Night at Bahlke Field, scoring three times in the fourth quarter to defeat Calvin College, 6-4, on Friday night (April 20).

Sophomore Trevor Bailey (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) notched a hat trick, including two goals 23 seconds apart in the fourth quarter, tying the game on a man-up goal before scoring the eventual game-winning marker.

Four different players scored for Calvin, as the Knights were outshot 42-25.

How It Happened

  • Calvin scored the opening goal with 2:35 to play in the first quarter to take a 1-0 lead after 15 minutes.
  • In the second quarter, Connor Alley tied the game with 12:15 to play in the half off a pass from Austen Irrer. Calvin regained the lead with 3:44 to play, but Trevor Bailey tied the game at 2-2, scoring with 29 seconds left in the half after a feed from Jared Nycz.
  • In the third quarter, the Knights took a 3-2 advantage halfway through the frame before Bryce Bohrmann scored to tie the contest at 3-3 with 5:42 left in the quarter. The Knights regained a one-goal advantage with 1:06 to play in the third to take a 4-3 advantage after 45 minutes.
  • In the fourth quarter, Bailey scored 1:36 into the frame while a man-up, then added another goal 23 seconds later to give Alma a 5-4 lead. Irrer added the insurance marker with 9:02 to play, scoring off of Nycz's third helper of the night.

Noteables

  • The Scots recognized the program's six seniors - Austen Irrer, Daniel Buchy, James Fulghum, Ben Luzar, Bryce Bohrmann, and Austin Jordan - following the contest. 
  • Alma is now 6-1 all-time against Calvin. 
  • Trevor Bailey extended his point streak to seven games and has scored in the last four contests. He has 9-4–13 totals in that span.
  • Connor Alley pushed his point streak to nine games with a goal.
  • Jared Nycz was held scoreless for the first time in eight games, but extended his point streak to nine contests with three helpers.
  • Bryce Bohrmann has registered a point in his last four games after scoring a goal.
