Box Score Alma, Mich. - The Alma College men's lacrosse team posted a 14-7 victory over Kalamazoo College on Friday (April 21) at Bahkle Field, closing out a three-game homestand as the program celebrated its' five senior members.
Alma (9-5 overall, 2-2 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) remains in the hunt for the MIAA tournament with two games remaining and sits in fifth place behind Trine and Olivet, which are both tied for third with 3-1 records in league play.
Sophomore Jared Nycz (Elma, N.Y./Iriquois) scored a game-high four goals and added an assist, marking the eighth straight game he has scored a goal, and the fourth straight contest he has netted two or more goals.
Sophomore Daniel Buchy (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro), freshman Chase Hunyadi (Pepper Pike, Ohio/University School) and junior Bryce Bohrmann (Grand Rapids, Mich./Pennfield) each scored two goals, while junior Austen Irrer (Midland, Mich./Midland) extended his goal-scoring streak to seven games with a goal and two assists.
Senior David Smith (Royal Oak, Mich./Royal Oak) got the start in goal and went the distance, stopping three of Kalamazoo's 10 shots on net for the win.
Alma held a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and led 8-3 at the half en route to victory and outshot the Hornets, 47-18.
The Scots will travel to Calvin College on Tuesday, April 25, for a 4:00 p.m. game against the Knights.
