Box Score Daytona Beach, Fla. - The Alma College men's basketball team continued its hot shooting on Wednesday (Dec. 20) night, defeating Berry College (GA) by a 105-80 margin to close out the second day of the 2017 Daytona Beach Shootout.
Six players reached double-figures for the Scots (3-5 overall), led by sophomore Preston Laketa (Concord, Mich./Hanover-Horton), who came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points. Sophomore Steven Harvey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) notched 16 points, hitting six of his nine shots, including three of his five shots from behind the arc. As a team, Alma hit a season-high 55 percent of its shots.
Senior Rob Holmes (Ada, Mich./Rockford) and junior Doug Bradfield (Mason, Mich./Mason) each scored 13 points, while Holmes pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
Berry (3-7) was led by Caleb Johnson's 19 points and eight rebounds as four Vikings scored in double-figures.
How It Happened
- Alma opened the game on a 28-8 run, taking a 20-point lead less than nine minutes into the game. The Scots continued to roll from there, outscoring the Vikings, 61-39, while shooting over 63 percent, including 7-for-13 from three-point range. Steven Harvey scored all 16 of his points and only missed one of his seven shots in 12 minutes of playing time.
- In the second half, every player saw action as the Scots maintained their advantage and outscored Berry, 44-41.

- Alma's 105 points were a season-high, as was its; 55.4 percent shooting from the floor.
- The Scots pulled down a season-high 47 rebounds. In addition, they registered a season-high 30 assists and 10 steals.
