Scots fall at Albion in MIAA Tournament title game

Albion, Mich. - The Alma College men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-5 defeat to Albion College in the championship game of the MIAA Tournament on Saturday (May 7) evening at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium on the Albion campus.

The Scots conclude the campaign with a 13-4 mark in the program's fifth season, marking the most wins in a season.

The first half was a tale of two different quarters as the Britons pumped four goals past senior goalie Al Lesperance (Farmington, Mich., Farmington) in the opening stanza, while Alma beat Britons goalie Brad Bogus four times in the second frame.

Freshman Jake Ellens (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) scored once in the first quarter to tie the game at 1-1 with 6:58 to play in the stanza, but the Brits responded with three straight goals to lead 4-1 after the first 15 minutes.

In the second quarter, Ellens scored twice , while sophomore Quentin Ellis (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) and senior Marshall Argenta (Stafford, N.Y./Notre Dame) also found the back of the net. Argenta scored with 1:18 to play in the half to the the game at 5-5, but Albion managed a late score to take a 6-5 lead into the break.

In the second half, Albion held the Scots scoreless while adding six goals to secure the win.
