Box Score

Riding a two-game winning streak, the Alma College Men's Lacrosse team looked to keep the momentum rolling on Friday when they welcomed Hope College to Bahlke Field for a game under the lights. Led by a four-goal evening by So. MF/A Josh Sejat (Grand Rapids/Northview), the Scots would get the 8-5 victory over the Flying Dutchmen on Senior Night.

"To beat such a well respected institution as Hope in any sport is a great win, said Alma Head Coach Michael Kinney. "To beat them on our first ever senior night is absolutely phenomenal."

"This program has transformed in to a contender and the culture has forever been changed.  The crowd was spectacular and to have both President Abernathy and Board Chairman Mr. Stephen Meyer in attendance made is truly memorable for our entire program."

"Great day to be an Alma Scot and we wish the entire Alma College Class of 2015 a huge congratulations for achieving such a memorable moment in their lives tomorrow at graduation."

With the win, Alma now sits at 10-4 on the year and 3-1 in MIAA matches. Hope falls to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in league action with the loss.

Sejat did not waste any time putting the Scots on the board first, finding the back of the net at 13:34 to put Alma up 1-0 early in the first quarter.

Following a man-up goal by Hope to tie the game, Sejat would take it himself again to give the home team the lead back, 2-1, with just over a minute remaining in the first.

The Flying Dutchmen would knot the score at the 5:35 mark in the second quarter, before Fr. D Austen Irrer (Midland/Midland) would find So. MF/A TJ Miller (Brighton/Brighton) in the front of the net to give Alma the lead back, 3-2, at 4:36.

Both teams would play to a stalemate in the final 4:30 and the Scots took the 3-2 advantage in to halftime.

The visitors would score first in the second half, but Sejat would quickly respond with his third goal of the game to put Alma up 4-3 with just over 12 minutes to play in the quarter.

Jr. MF/A Marshall Argenta (Stafford, NY/Notre Dame) would find Fr. MF/A Quentin Ellis (Vernon, CT/Rockville) for another goal at 11:46, before Sejat would ring the bell for the fourth time to put Alma up 6-3 at 9:10.

At 11:35, the visitors would but their final point on the board, before Argenta would close out the game with a netter to give Alma the 8-5 conference victory.

Sejat led all players with four goals to go along with five groundballs. Argenta chipped in one goal and one assist, while Jr. D Sam Korbel (Schaumburg, IL/Schaumburg) scooped up a game-high eight groundballs.
