Scots Men's Lacrosse defeated by Adrian 19-4 on the road Saturday

Box Score

The Alma College Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Adrian College on Saturday, to take on the Bulldogs in a MIAA showdown. The Scots were faced with a 7-0 deficit early and were unable to overcome it, falling to Adrian 19-4 on a cloudy Saturday afternoon.

"We played undisciplined in too many areas to mount any kind of momentum," said Alma Head Coach Jason Levesque.  "We would make half plays and not finish through."

"While still a very young team, we know better and need to execute a play in its entirety."

"Against a talented team like Adrian, you cannot take any plays off ... we need to have more urgency, more desire - we need to want it more."

With the loss, Alma falls to 5-9 on the year, with a 0-4 mark in the MIAA. The Bulldogs improve to 8-3 overall behind a perfect 3-0 mark in conference play.

Adrian jumped out to an early lead on Saturday, scoring three-unanswered goals in the first to take the 3-0 lead into the second quarter.

The Bulldogs began the second quarter with a 4-0 run to extend the advantage to 7-0 with just over six minutes to play in the half.

The Scots got on the board in the second quarter at 5:26, when So. MF David Foster (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) connected with Fr. A Mitch Adams (Novi/Novi) for a score. Heading into halftime, the home team held the 7-1 lead.

Adrian scored the first two goals of the second half, increasing the lead to 9-1 with just over 11 minutes to play in the third.

At 9:55, So. A Kyle Schnitzer (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill) found the back of the net for a man-up goal off an assist by Jr. MF Tyler Bennett (New Lothrop/New Lothrop) to cut the deficit to seven, 9-2.

Following a Bulldog goal, So. MF Joe Rimbo (Lemont, IL/Lemont) recorded his first goal of the season off a dish by Jr. MF Josh Sejat (Grand Rapids/Northview), and the score showed 10-3 at 7:25.

The home team ended the third with five-straight scores to extend the lead to 15-3 entering the final quarter of play.

Adrian notched four unanswered to begin the fourth to stretch its lead to 19-3 at 6:30.

Bennett ended the match with an unassisted goal, and Alma would fall on the road 19-4.
