Box Score The Alma College Men's Lacrosse team finished the MIAA portion of their 2013 season on Wednesday afternoon when they hosted Albion College at Bahlke Field. The Britons took command early and cruised to a 14-0 victory over the Scots.
With the loss, Alma concluded MIAA play at 0-6 and are now 3-11 overall, while Albion improved to 5-0 in the league and 10-4 on the season.
"We played hard throughout, however our mistakes and miscues cost us," said Scots Head Coach Jason Levesque. "Against a well coached team like Albion, that usually means it ends up in the back of your net which was the case on the majority of their goals today. I'm pleased with our effort, we just need to shore up the miscues. We'll regroup and look to finish strong on Friday against Hanover."
Albion scored early and late in the first quarter by notching goals 25 seconds into the game and with three ticks left, taking a 4-0 lead after one. The Britons scored two additional goals in the second quarter and had a 6-0 advantage at halftime.
The second half remained in full control by the visitors as they led 11-0 after three and added three more in the fourth to earn the final 14-0 margin of victory. For the game, Albion outshot the Scots by a total of 55-7 and 34-5 in shots on goal.
So. GK Daric Mueller (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) had 14 saves while allowing 10 goals, and Fr. GK Al Lesperance (Farmington, Mich./Farmington) stopped six shots and gave up four goals. Alma had five shots on goal by five different players.
The Scots will conclude the 2013 campaign on Friday afternoon when they host Hanover College at Bahlke Field. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
