Box Score Saturday afternoon saw the Alma College Men's Lacrosse team travel to Adrian College for a MIAA match, and the host Bulldogs were victorious by a margin of 18-5. The Scots are now 0-4 in the league and 3-9 overall, while Adriam is 3-0 in the MIAA and 8-3 in 2013.
"At times today we played very well with the top team in our conference," said Alma Head Coach Jason Levesque. ""It was a great first hand look for the guys to see where we want to be and how much more we need to improve upon. Overall, we played hard and competed well against a well coached and disciplined Adrian team."
Adrian scored the first four goals of the game before Alma was able to get on the board. So. M Tyler Bennett (New Lothrop, Mich./New Lothrop) scored a goal assisted by Fr. M/A Kyle Schnitzer (Aurora, Col./Smoky Hill) to make it 4-1 at 8:01.
It was 10-1 in the second when Bennett scored unassisted with 2:55 remaining in the half and the Bulldogs went into halftime with the 10-2 advantage.
Adrian outscored the Scots 3-0 in the third quarter and led 13-2 heading into the fourth. In the final frame, the Bulldogs outscored the visitors by a margin of 5-3 en route to the 18-5 victory. The goals for Alma were by So. D Alex Novak (S. Holland, Ill./Marion Catholic), Fr. M/A David Foster (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) and Fr. M/A Jonathan Lindback (Tavernier, Fla./Coral Shores).
Assists on the goals were by Schnitzer and Lindback. So. GK Darie Mueller (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) played the first half and had two saves, while Fr. GK Al Lesperance (Farmington, Mich./Farmington) was in next for the final 30 minutes and recorded five stops.
The Scots take a week break for finals and will next play at Calvin College on Saturday, March 20. Start time in Grand Rapids is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
