Scots Men's Lacrosse is defeated 12-4 by Huntingdon (AL) on Friday afternoon

The fledgling Alma College Men's Lacrosse program continued their 2012 inaugural season on Friday afternoon when they took on host Huntingdon (AL). The Scots, although having their first lead in program history, fell to the Hawks by a score of 12-4 and will next play at Hanover (IN) on Sunday afternoon.

"This afternoon was an extremely tough loss, as our guys gave their all," said Scots Head Coach Jason Levesque. "Our fourth game in six days and I am proud of how we played. It was hard fought from start to finish and it is tough to come out on the losing end. We made some mistakes that led to transition goals and it cost us. But, we are working hard and we will start seeing results if we keep improving."

Alma took a 1-0 lead when Fr. M Cole Mulder (Holland, Mich./W. Ottawa) scored just 1:21 into the game, giving the Scots their first-ever lead in the new program. The host Hawks would score the final four goals of the first quarter and the only tally of the second, to take a 5-1 halftime advantage.

The Scots hung tough in the second half as well, but Huntingdon would outscore the visitors by a margin of 7-3 to come away with the 12-4 win. Highlights for Alma included career-first goals by Fr. A Adam Debevec (Traverse City, Mich./TC West), who had two, andFr. M Tyler Bennett (New Lothrop, Mich./New Lothrop).

In goal, Fr. GK Daric Mueller (Dewitt, Mich./Dewitt) had 19 saves to continue his competitive early collegiate career.
