OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. – Closing out the final round of the 2025-26 season and round two if the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Spring Finale, the Alma College women's golf team finished placing seventh at the tournament championship, shooting the best team score of the season as a team with a 333 (+45) for a weekend total of 674 (+98).
Finishing out her sophomore season, Sarah Ream led the Scots with a tied for seventh-place finish, shooting an 80 (+8) on day two for a two-day total of 155 (+11). Ream's efforts for the season earned her a spot on the All-MIAA Second Team, the Scots first individual on either team since Morgan Yates in 2024. Alma's next placer was Katelyn Jacot, who placed 41st for the weekend, shooting a career-best 80 (+8) on day two, for a tournament total of 172 (+28). Two-shot back for the tournament was Addison Wressell, placing 42nd overall, with a day two score of 89 (+17), bringing her total to 174 (+30). Finishing tied for 43rd in the field, McKenzie McManus scored an 84 (+12) on day two, bringing her tournament total to 180 (+36) for the spring championship. Also tying for 43rd was Leea Gorman, who shot a 91 (+19) on day two, totaling 180 (+36) as well rounding out the team scoring for the Scots. Competing as the individual, Damien Gagnon placed 47th for the tournament, scoring a 94 (+22) on the final round, bringing the weekend total to 184 (+40), to close out the season for the Scots.
Amanda Melling of Saint Mary's College was named the medalist of the tournament after a day two score of one-over 73, coupled with an even-par day one 72, taking the tournament with a total of 145. Teammate Julia Lizak fired an even-par 72 on day two to finish three-over for the weekend with a 147. Rylee Smith of Trine University shot an 81 (+9) in round two, paired with her 69 (-3), for a total of 150 (+6), rounding out the top three.
For team scores, Saint Mary's, the 48th ranked team in the land, came away as the champions with a two-day score of 606 (+30) with rounds of 307 and 299. Trine finished second with a weekend total of 628 (+52), followed by Hope College with a 632 (+56) for a two-round score. Saint Mary's will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA National Tournament with the season low accumulation of strokes through six rounds of play.
Alma will graduate senior Jada Zerlaut as they will look towards the fall for another season to continue improvement and a chance at competing at the national tournament in the near future.
