AUGUSTA, Mich. – Also closing out their fall season on a Monday that finally felt like fall, the Alma College women's golf team took part in the Hornet Fall Invitational hosted by Kalamazoo College on October 20th. The Scots finished second at the tournament with a team score of 357 (+69) hosted at Stonehedge North.
The low Scots scorer for the day was
Jada Zerlaut, who closed out her senior fall campaign with an 87 (+15), tying for fifth place overall. Also tying for fifth was
Sarah Ream, who scored an 85 as well. Just two shots back was
Katelyn Jacot, posting an 89 (+17), placing her in tenth place for the field. Ending the day in 12th place was
Kelbi Roman, who rounded out her fall with a 94 (+22).
Addison Wressell was the final Scots player counting towards the team score, shooting a 97 (+25), placing her in 15th position overall.
Playing their rounds as individuals,
McKenzie McManus led the way tying for seventh place with a score of 88 (+16). No far behind was
Charliese Erickson, who finished with a 96 (+24), placing 14th overall.
Leea Gorman was the next lowest individual with a score of 101 (+29), finishing in 16th place. One spot behind was
Lakyn Zimmerman, finishing with a 106 (+34), for 17th in the field. Completing the Scots golfers was
Damien Gagnon who scored a 113 (+41), completing the Scots leader board in 19th place.
Jacey Merkle and Ellie Britt from Kalamazoo both tied for the medalist position individually with scores of 78 (+6), the only golfers to score in the seventies. The Hornets also came away as team champions ahead of the Scots with a team score of 320 (+32).
Alma will now use the winter months to prepare for spring competition with a schedule that will be released at a later date.
