SAUGATUCK, Mich. – Taking on the challenges of spring golf in the Midwest, the Alma College women's golf team traveled to southwest Michigan to the Ravines Golf Club for the Hope College Spring Invitational. After day one, the ladies sit in a tie for fourth place, with a team score of 358 (+70), with Calvin University.
Coming in with the tournament low score of the day, Sarah Ream posted a four-over 76, holding a three-shot lead over second place halfway through the tournament. Alma's next finisher was McKenzie McManus, who placed in a tie for 21st, with a score of 93 (+21). Katelyn Jacot, was one shot behind with a 94 (+22), placing herself in a tie for 25th overall. Just another shot behind was Addison Wressell, shooting a 95 (+23) for 29th place in the tournament field. Alma's Individual competitor Damien Gagnon finished the day with a 100 (+28), currently in 32nd position. Charliese Erickson completed the Scots scoring with a 111 (+39), finishing in 34th place after day one.
Rachel Fay of Adrian College is in second, three-shots behind Ream and holding a one-shot lead over third, who is Amanda Adley of Lake Forest College with an 80 (+8). Host Hope College currently sits in first as a team with a score of 338 (+50), four-shots ahead of Adrian who is second with a 342 (+54). Lake Forest is in third with a 347 (+59), just ahead of Alma and Calvin in fourth.
Alma will return to day two action tomorrow at Clearbrook Golf Club for round two, starting at 9:00 AM.
