Bethany, OK - Alma College STUNT was in action, opening their postseason run with a pair of games on Saturday. The Scots defeated Arizona State 17-4, before defeating Oklahoma State 32-28.
Alma 17, Arizona State 4
Alma College opened their postseason run against four seed Arizona State University. The teams tied routine three to open the game, before Alma took routines six and five outright. The Scots won routine four within two to lead 5-2 after one. Alma won routine two within two to open the second quarter, and took routines five, three, and four, leading 10-3 at halftime. Out of the halftime break, Alma won routine four outright, before snagging routing three within two. After winning routines seven and two, the Scots led 15-4 after three. A 2-0 routine eight score to open the fourth quarter brought the game to an early end, 17-4 the final.
Alma 32, Oklahoma State 28
In the winners bracket final, Alma met second seeded Oklahoma State University. Alma won the opening point within two on routine two, before Oklahoma State won routine eight. The teams tied routine three, before a Cowgirl win on routine seven saw OKST leading 4-3 after one. The teams swapped within two victories on routines five and three, before another tie on routine four. Once again, it was the Cowgirls who took the final point of the half, leading 10-8 at the break. Out of the halftime break, the momentum shifted back towards Alma. After the teams tied routine seven, Alma took routines five, three, and eight within two to get back in front 15-14 heading into the fourth. Opening the final quarter, OKST won routine seven 5-3 to take the lead at 19-18, only for the Scots to take it right back with a 5-3 win of their own on routine two. Now up 23-22, Alma extended their advantage to 27-25 with a win on routine six, before sealing the win on the final routine of the game, routine three. The Scots walked out 32-28 winners.
With the wins, Alma advances directly to Sunday's national championship game, where they will play the winner of Oklahoma State and Michigan State at 1:15 PM CDT.
