Alma, MI – Alma College STUNT was in action on Sunday, taking part in day two of the Alma College STUNT Tournament. The nationally ranked Scots defeated Division II Lewis University, before falling to the top ranked Division I team in the country, Cal Baptist.
Alma 25, Lewis 1
The Scots pitched a shutout in the first half to open against Lewis. The Scots won routines five, one, seven, and two in the first quarter. Leading 4-0, Alma took routines four, two, eight, and three in the second quarter to lead 8-0 at halftime. In the third quarter, the home team took routines six, five, three, and four, heading to the fourth quarter with a 12-0 advantage. Alma swept routines two and six to open the final period, before Lewis scored their lone point of the game. The visitors scored within two on a portion of routine one, with the Scots winning the round 4-1. Closing things out, Alma swept routine four, winning the game 25-1.
Cal Baptist 31, Alma 17
In the final game of the day, the Scots took on powerhouse California Baptist. Alma lost the opening point on routine five, before scoring withing two on routine three to get on the board. Trailing 3-1, CBU took routine eight, and another within two on routine two saw the Scots down 6-2 at the end of the first. Opening the second quarter, the Lancers took routine seven, before Alma won routine five within two, dropping their deficit to four points at 8-4. CBU scored on routine eight again, and once again it was Alma getting within two to close the quarter, this time on routine four. The Scots trailed 11-5 at halftime. Out of the halftime break, the teams tied routine two, before CBU scored on routine eight. The Scots won routine four within two points, and a Lancer score on routine seven saw the Scots down 15-8 heading into the point. In the fourth quarter, CBU won routine five 4-3, routine seven 4-2, routine one 5-3, and routine eight 3-1. The final score rested a 31-17.
Both teams scored on 100% of the routines that they called, and Alma scored at least one point on all 16 routines that they called throughout both games.
The Scots are back in action tomorrow, with games against Mercyhurst and Purdue Northwest.
