DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Eyeing down a chance for their sixth consecutive NCA national championship in Advanced All-Girl Division III, the Alma College cheer program took to the Daytona Beach Bandshell on Friday for the first time after being moved inside the ocean Center on Thursday due to weather. The Scots went out with a flawless, zero deduction performance on Friday morning, scoring a 93.2375, claiming the national championship for another successful year.
The Scots were the only team in the division to score in the 90's for the competition as second-place SUNY Cortland finished their finals with a score of 89.6584, three and a half points from the national champion Scots. Elmira claimed third place with a score of 81.6125, followed by Adrian College in fourth with a 76.35 and Rochester Institute of Technology with a finals score of 73.1458. The Scots were also the only team to finish finals with no deductions on their way to another national title.
The Scots are not done though as they now have the chance to compete in the Grand National Champion competitions against competitors like Navarro College, who was featured on Netflix, Oklahoma Baptist University, the University of New Hampshire and more.
The Alma cheer program will also compete in the finals for Division III Spirit Rally tomorrow morning at 10:10 AM as well, as they look to secure their second-consecutive national championship in the new division.
