Addison, IL – Alma College Bowling was in action over the weekend, taking part in the Intercollegiate Qualifiers. Alma was 19
th of 25 in the team qualifier, amassing a total of 10,980.
In the singles qualifier on Friday, participants bowled five games. Alma was led by
Madeline Gazzarari, who bowled a total of 1,152 over five games to take 34
th.
Morgan Smith totaled 1,065 over five games to take 91
st, and
Brooke Morrow's five game total of 1,003 was good for 151
st.
Mia Winter was tied for 171
st, with her total at 983, and
Kendra Walch scored 963, taking 187
th place. Right behind her was
Brook Buchan, who scored 962 in 189
th, and
Alexis Marquardt scored 915 en route to a 25
th place finish. Rounding things out for Alma,
Abigail DeBruyne took 222
nd with a score of 894.
Moving on to the team qualifier, teams bowled 64 baker games over Saturday and Sunday. On day one, Alma opened with a strong first block of 16 games. Halfway through the day, the Scots had a score of 2,736 and were in 18
th place. The second block of 16 for Alma was similar in terms of scoring. Alma ended up with 5,400 on the dot, and closed day one in 20
th place.
Kicking off Sunday, Alma was unable to move up in the standings throughout the first half. The Scots bowled their strongest block of the three that had been completed thus far, ending up with 8,191 points in 20
th. With their final 16 games of the weekend, the Scots found their way up into 19
th. Alma bowled a strong 2,789 over the block, finishing with their total of 10,980.
The Scots will be back in action when they close their season out at the Club National Championships on March 28 and 29.
