Monroe, MI – Alma College Bowling was in action at the American Heartland Championship round on Sunday afternoon. After a back-and-forth battle with The University of Olivet, the Scots were victorious, claiming the top spot in the team standings with a score of 5,568.
Alma opened the day with their season high game score of 1,014. They followed with another pair of solid games, and led by 104 heading into baker play. Olivet was hot on Alma's heels, and the Scots even fell behind in the closing stages. However, it was Alma who would find a final push to take the lead back for good.
Individually, Alma placed three in the top five of the standings. The Scots were led by
Morgan Smith, who placed 2
ndwith a score of 614 over three games bowled. Right behind her was Abigail Debruyne in 3
rd with a 605 over three games, and
Madeline Gazzarari in 5
th at 572.
Kendra Walch was the next Scots to appear in the standings, bowling a 542 over three games to claim 15
th.
Alexis Marquardt contributed 322 over a pair of games, taking 36
th.
Brook Buchan added 162 over one game in 43
rd.
In JV action, the Scots placed 2
nd with a score of 3,584.
Mia Winter bowled a 518 over three games to lead the way in 3
rd. Brook Morrow scored 481 over three games to take 4
th.
Molly Chinery's 453 was good for 6
th, and
Olivia Holt placed 7
thwith a 398, both over three games.
The Scots are back in action on January 31
st, when they host the Scotty Classic in Jackson, Michigan.
