TECUMSEH, Mich. – The Alma College women's golf squad got the ball rolling in round one at the Irish Hills Intercollegiate at Tecumseh Golf Club, the home of the Adrian College Bulldogs. The Scots found their stride and climbed to second place on the team leader board, tallying 337 strokes as a team (+47), just three shots behind Wittenberg University, who sits in first after day one.
Sarah Ream led all golfers in the field at the conclusion of round one, registering a 76 (+4), as the only player in the field to score in the 70's. Addison Wressel was the next Scot's golfer on the leader board, finishing tied for ninth with an 85 (+13). Just one shot behind was Katelyn Jacot, shooting an 86 (+14) to tie for 11th overall. Leea Gorman found herself top 20 as well, scoring a 90 (+18) in round one, tying for 19th in the field. Not far behind was Jada Zerlaut, finishing with a 94 (+22) after round one, sitting in 31st overall. Competing as individuals, Kelbi Roman and McKenzie McManus shot 100 (+28) and106 (+34), respectively, to finish in 38th and 43rd.
Two golfers sit behind Ream tied for second after day one scores of 81 (+9), giving the Scots golfer a five-shot lead heading into day two of action. The Scots as a team sit 13 shots ahead of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association colleague Adrian College, and 11 shots ahead of third place St. Norbert College.
Alma will return to the course at 10:00 AM tomorrow, Saturday, September 12th, for the final round of action.
