RICHMOND, Ind. – The Alma College women's golf team got the ball rolling for the 2025-26 season on Friday, August 29th, as they traveled to Indiana to compete in the Indiana University East Fall invitational. Alma finished round one of two, sitting in seventh place as a team, with a score of 342 (+54).
Picking up where she began last season, sophomore Sarah Ream opened a new season on a high with a 76 (+4), currently tied for first place after round one. Ream carded two birdies and 11 pars en route to her first-round score, with nines on 40 and 36. Leea Gorman was the next best scorer for the Scots with an 88 (+16), placing her in a tie for 35th following day one action. Gorman recorded six pars on her round for the day. Three Scots came in with the next score of 89 (+17), including Jada Zerlaut, Katelyn Jacot and Addison Wressell. The three Scots are currently tied for 41st overall for the tournament. Jacot tallied two birdies on her round and Wressell and Zerlaut each tabbed seven and six pars, respectively. Competing as the individual, Kelbi Roman finished round one with a 90 (+18), which included a birdie on the back nine. Roman sits in a tie for 47th place following day one.
Brooklee Bussing is the only other golfer in the field to keep pace with Ream following round one as she also shot a 76 to tie for the medalist position following the first round. Both players are one shot ahead of a five-way tie for third heading into the final round as well. Saint Mary's of the Woods College holds the top team position after a day one team score of 312 (+24), two shots ahead of the host IU East. Grace College and Huntington University (IN) both sit within two shots of second place in a bunched-up leader board heading into Saturday's round.
Alma will return to the action tomorrow, Saturday, August 30th, for the final round of play at the Indiana University East Fall Invitational with play beginning at 9:00 AM.
