COLDWATER, Mich. – The Alma College men's golf team closed out their 2024-25 season with the final round of the MIAA Spring Finale on Thursday, May 8th, at Bella Vista Golf Course in Coldwater, Michigan. The Scots improved upon their day one score, finishing out round two with a 322 (+34) for a tournament total of 650. Alma finished the two-day tournament in seventh-place, ahead of Kalamazoo College.
Alex Bates came in with the day two low for the Scots, firing a 78 (+6) that included two birdies on the back nine. Bates finished the tournament with a two-day total of 164 (+20), finishing tied for 32nd. Senior Max Kraniak closed out his collegiate career with a round two score of 79 (+7), with one birdie on the card. Kraniak closed out the tournament with a two-day total of 162 (+18), finishing tied for 28th. Andrew Skellenger finished third for the Scots in round two, shooting an 81 (+9), bringing his tournament total to 159 (+15). Skellenger tied for 22nd overall, the highest tournament finisher for Alma. Jaden Ducharme rounded out the team scoring for the Scots, finishing round two with an 84 (+12). Ducharme closed out his freshman season with a tournament total of 175 (+31), tied for 44th. Senior Peyton Ried closed out his collegiate career with a 92 (+20), following his day one 74, totaling 166 (+22) strokes for the tournament and finishing tied for 35th. Rounding out the Scots was William Lightle, who finished round two with a 94 (+22). Lightle also finished with 175 strokes (+31), tying with his teammate Ducharme, for 44th in the field.
Cameron Bozyk from Adrian College held onto his day one lead, finishing as the only player under par for the tournament to take home the medalist honors with a two-day score of 141 (-3). Liam Casey of Hope College finished behind Bozyk in second with a total of 145 (+1) following a day two round of 72 (E). Hope came away as the team champions with a consistent day two score of 302 (+14) for 604 (+28), finishing ahead of Adrian, who finished with a tournament total of 608 (+32), just four shots behind.
Alma will graduate Kraniak and Ried along with Adam Deeter who graduated as a junior for the 2024-25 season. Alma will look to the fall of 2025 as they welcome new faces in and look to build upon recent successes as a program.
