ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Alma College men's golf team hit the links at The Meadows on the campus of Grand Valley State University, for round two of the Bob Ebels Invitational, hosted by Hope College on Saturday, April 12th. The Scots finished day two in 11th place as a team, with a score of 315 (+31) on day two, for a tournament total of 642 (+74).
The team low score on day two for the Scots came from both Max Kraniak and Alex Bates, who both finished with 76's (+5), with Kraniak collecting two birdies and Bates recording one. Kraniak finished the tournament with a two-day total of 154 (+12), good for a tie for 25th in the field. Bates bounce back second round was good for a weekend total of 159 (+17) placing him into a tie for 37th overall. Jaden Ducharme was Alma's next best finisher on day two with a nine-over 80, giving him a tournament total of 161 (+19), placing him in 43rd position. Peyton Ried, playing again as an individual, finished round two with an 81 (+10), giving him a total weekend score of 165 (+23), finishing him in a tie for 54th. William Lightle improved on his day one score with an 83 (+12) on day two. Lightle finished the weekend with a total of 168 (+26), and finishing in 61st overall. Alma's final finisher was Carter McCave, who pieced together another 89 (+18), for a weekend total of 178 (+36), tying for 67th in the field.
Braeden Duncan from Aurora University and Jonah Swartz from Wheaton College (Ill.) came away as the individual champions with a two-day score of 143 (+1). Aurora University came away as the Team Champions with a team two-day score of 584 (+16), beating out Wheaton, who finished with a team score of 598 (+30), by 14 shots.
The Alma men will now have the Steven Tyler Memorial tournament hosted by Kalamazoo College on Monday, April 28th, before their MIAA Spring Finale to wrap up the season. Tee times for the Steven Tyler Memorial tournament are set to begin at 12:00 PM.
