Nashville, TN – Alma College STUNT was in action on Saturday night at the College STUNT Club National Championships. The Scots upset top seeded Oklahoma State 15-10 to advance directly to the national championship game tomorrow afternoon.
Oklahoma State scored the first point of the game, converting on a routine 5 to take the lead. Alma tied out routine 1, and forced a no point from OKST on the next possession, a routine 8. The Cowgirls claimed a point on routine 2 to close the quarter with Alma trailing 3-1. In the second quarter, Alma scored maximum points. The teams tied routine 5 to open the first round, and tied a routine 8 in the third round. The Scots picked up points in the second and fourth rounds on routines 7 and 3 to bring the score to a level 5-5 at halftime.
Oklahoma State picked up the opening point of the third quarter, flipping a routine 6 called by Alma. The Scots responded by tying out the next two points, routines 7 and 1, before flipping a routine 8 called by the Cowgirls. The score remained deadlocked at 8-8 heading into the final quarter. Alma took a firm grip on the game by sweeping the first routine, a routine 3 called by the Scots, 3-0. Oklahoma State would answer by outscoring Alma 2-1 on the next possession, routine 5. Leading 12-10, the Scots would put any chance of a comeback to bed by calling, and sweeping, routine 7. The sweep put Alma ahead by five with just three points remaining in the game, bringing things to an early end.
The Scots converted on 75% of their possessions in the win, and now move on to the national championship game tomorrow afternoon. They await the winner of Oklahoma State and Cal Poly.
