BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Alma College women's golf team rounded out the MIAA Spring Finale on Tuesday, April 22nd at the Binder Park Golf Course, concluding their 2024-25 season as well. The Scots posted a day two score of 380 (+92) for a two-day total of 755, finishing in ninth-place.
Freshman Sarah Ream led the charge again for the Scots, posting an 85 (+13) on day two, for a tournament total of 169, finishing in 13th place overall. Katelyn Jacot finished second on the Scots roster for the tournament with a day two score of 101 (+29) for a championship total of 194, finishing in a tie for 43rd. Just two shots behind for the whole tournament, Leea Gorman and Addison Wressell each finished day two with scores of 99 (+27) and 95 (+23), respectively, for a total of 196, putting them into a tie for 46th overall. Competing as the individual. For the championship, Charliese Erickson finished round two with a 100 (+28), giving her a total of 201, placing her 52nd overall. McKenzie McManus rounded out the Scots scoring with a second-round total of 102 (+30), for a matching split between days, totaling 204. McManus would end up finishing 53rd in the field.
Rylee Smith from Trine University held on to her day one lead, improving for a 74 (+2) on day two, giving her medalist honors with a two-day total of 152. Five shots behind was Ellie Britt from Kalamazoo College, finishing with a 78 (+6) for a two-day total of 157. Four golfers tied for third with tournament totals of 160 as well. Trine also held onto their day one lead, shooting a 321 (+33) on day two, scoring 640 for the championship, 27 shots ahead of second-place Saint Mary's College (IN).
Saint Mary's had the lowest season average score, crowning them as the MIAA Women's Golf Champions and giving them the Automatic Qualifier to the NCAA National Championship tournament.
Alma will graduate Lydia Back as the season comes to conclusion. The Scots will look to the fall of 2025 to continue to improve and build the blocks towards a new season and bring new faces in looking to climb the leaderboards.
