BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Alma College women's golf team opened up their final tournament of the 2024-25 season at the two-day MIAA Spring Finale, hosted by Albion College. The Scots are competing at Binder Park Golf Club in Battle Creek, Michigan, a 5,939-yard par 72 course. After day one, Alma sits in seventh with a team score of 375 (+87), ahead of Albion College and The University of Olivet.
Freshman Sarah Ream came in as the Scots low scorer of day one with a 12-over 84, that included two birdies on the scorecard. Ream currently sits in 12th place overall, just one shot out of the top ten. Katelyn Jacot finished tied for 29th in the field, Alma's next highest finisher, with a 93 (+21). Jacot also carded a birdie, coming on the back nine for round one. Leea Gorman closed out the opening round in a tie for 38th position with a 97 (+25). Addison Wressell and Charliese Erickson, who played as the individual, each finished out the first half of the tournament with 101's (+29), landing in a tie for 50th overall. One shot behind her teammates was McKenzie McManus, finishing with a 102 (+30), sitting in 53d following day one.
Following first round competition, Trine currently sits in first-place with a team score of 219 (+31), holding a 21-shot lead over Saint Mary's College (IN) who finished with a 340 (+52). On the individual leaderboard, Trine holds the top two spots as Natalie Kulka and Rylee Smith sit in first and second with scores of 77 (+5) and 78 (+6), respectively. Ellie Britt (Kalamazoo College), Sara Bevington (Adrian College), and Julia Lizak (Saint Mary's), round out the top five with 79'w (+7).
Alma will compete in the final round of the conference finale, tomorrow at 10:00 AM, looking to improve on their first-round scores from a chilly, gusty afternoon.
