ADRIAN, Mich. – The Alma College men's wrestling team traveled to Adrian College for the Futures Tournament on Sunday, February 23rd. The Scots looked to gain some confidence heading into the regional tournament next weekend at Wabash College.
In the 133 division, after dropping his first match, Dominic Megdanoff scored a win by major decision (15-6) over Brenden Yob from Heidelberg University. Megdanoff then scored a second victory, this time by fall (2:45) over Glen Cahilly of the University of Chicago, for his final win of the day.
Wrestling in the 174 division, Blaise Armstead scored his victory of the day over Drake Rorabacher from Adrian, winning by decision, 8-5.
Wrestling as the heavy weight, Dominic Overway opened his tournament with a win by fall over Vincent Kilroy from Adrian in 2:02 time. Overway also collected another victory by fall over Hugo Hernandez, also from Adrian in 1:43 time.
Alma will now prepare over the week for the NCAA Central Regional Tournament on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st, as they look to send some of the team to the National Championship Tournament. Matches are set to begin at 11:00 AM both days.
