RICHMOND, Ind. – The Alma College women's golf team traveled across state lines to the south for the Indiana University East Fall Invitiational, in Richmond, Indiana. After day one of the two-day event, the Scots currently sit in eighth place with a team core of 346 (+58).
Leading the way for the women was freshman Sarah Ream as she currently sits inside the top ten after closing our round one with a 78 (+6), to place ninth overall, just four shots shy of the leader. Lydia Back was Alma's next lowest scorer as she finished up her day with an 85 (+13) to sit in 30th place overall for the tournament. Finishing four shots behind her teammate Back was Jada Zerlaut, who rounded out round one with an 89 (+17) and sits in 41st place overall. Playing as the individual, freshman Charliese Erickson opened up her collegiate career with a 90 (+18) and sits two spots back of her teammate in 43rd. McKenzie McManus and Katelyn Jacot rounded out the scoring for the Scots with each posting a score of 94 (+22) and 97 (+25), respectively.
After day one, the host IU East sit in first on the leader board after putting together a team score of 314 (+26), currently holding a three shot lead over Oakland City University. Rylee Smith of Trine University currently holds sole possession of the top spot after a day one score of 74 (+2),
Alma will hit the course again tomorrow, looking to improve in the leader board and start the season off with valuable knowledge before conference play.
