DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Alma College cheer team took the mat on Saturday, April 13th, as they eyed down finals and a chance for four-straight National Championships in Advanced All-Girl Division III. The Scots rebounded from Friday's performance and left it all on the mat on Saturday after being crowned as the top team in the division with a score of 92.4958.
The Scots were named the National Champions over SUNY Cortland who finished second with a score of 86.7125. Concordia University-Chicago placed third with a score of 79.825 and Stevenson rounded out the finals scoring with a score of 78.8083. This is the fourth straight National Championship in the division for the Scots, dating back to 2021.
"Today is exactly what we worked for all season, to hit on the bandshell in front of all of our supporters! I am so proud of this team and their commitment to the process throughout this season! They truly earned this championship" said head coach Michelle Sabourin regarding today's final performance.
Team 12 also got to hit the bandshell mat once more for the Grand Nationals competition where the winners of the advanced divisions go head-to-head to see who will be named the Grand Champion for 2024. The Scots were able to showcase their talents one more time on the bandshell along with the many other talented National Champions at the event this year.
Team 12 will celebrate their season accomplishment as they head back to Michigan where they're supporters are patiently awaiting to congratulate them and welcome them back as 2024 National Champions.
