Heartbreak for #1 STUNT at DII #1 Davenport in Battle of Top Ranked Teams

Grand Rapids, MI - Alma College STUNT traveled to Grand Rapids on Friday night to take on Davenport University. The battle of two of college STUNT's top ranked teams lived up to the fight. It was heartbreak for Alma, as the top ranked team in DIII fell to the DII #1 by a final of 16-15.

Alma jumped out to a 3-1 advantage early on in the first quarter. The lead carried through to the second quarter, and Alma was able to take a 6-4 lead into the half.

The 2-point Scots lead evaporated on the first two routines of the third quarter, and Davenport tied things at 6-6. The Panthers kept the pressure on, scoring in the remaining two rounds of the third. Alma salvaged a point out of the frame to trail 8-7 heading in to the final period. With just the first routine of the fourth quarter, Alma outscored Davenport 2-1, tying the game at 10-10. The next two routines landed the Scots a 14-13 lead heading into the final call of the night. With the lead, it would take a near perfect effort from Davenport to rip the win away from Alma, and unfortunately, that 's just what the Panthers were able to pull off. The final routine was scored 3 points to 1 in favor of Davenport, bringing the final score to 16-15 in favor of the Panthers.

The loss drops Alma to 4-1 on the season. The Scots look to bounce back in their home gym tomorrow against The University of Olivet and Michigan State, with the first of those matches also serving as Alma's Mid America East conference opener.
