TECUMSEH, Mich. – The Alma College women's golf team hit the links after their one day off in between traveling to South Bend, Indiana and now to Tecumseh on Saturday, October 5th, to take part in MIAA Jamboree #4. Alma improved from their results two days ago as they lowered their team score, with a 346 (+58), placing seventh again.
Two Scots tied for the team low as Lydia Back and Sarah Ream both finished their rounds with 83's (+11), to place tied for 15th in the field. Ream's scorecard included two birdies on the day while Back recorded nine pars. Next in line for the Scots, McKenzie McManus finished with an 85 (+13) that also included a birdie on her back nine. McManus ended up finishing in a tie for 25th overall. Taylor Cotter was Alma's fourth finisher as she put together a 95 (+23) to place tied for 52nd overall. Rounding out the team scoring for Alma, Charliese Erickson finished her day with a 98 (+26), which ended up placing her in a tie for 58th place. Competing as individuals, Addison Wressell and Katelyn Jacot each shot 95 (+23) and 99 (+27), respectively, to finish tied for 52nd and tied for 60th in the field of players.
Saint Mary's College was crowned the team champion of the event shooting a team score of 308 (+20), beating out the host Bulldogs of Adrian College by 12 shots. Melanie Maier from Saint Mary's was named the individual champions after shooting a one-over 73 to clip her teammate Colleen Hand by one shot for the medalist position.
The Scots will now have the rest of the weekend and early into next week to prepare for the final MIAA Jamboree of the fall as they will head own across state lines again to Angola, Indiana for the MIAA Jamboree #2, which was rescheduled earlier in the fall. Play will begin at 1:00 PM for the ladies' final conference event of the fall.
