SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Alma College women's golf team finally returned to MIAA action after getting a brisk sunny Thursday for the rescheduled Jamboree #3. The Scots ended up finishing in seventh shooting a team score of 356 (+68).
Sarah ream was Alma's lowest scorer of the day posting an 80 (+8) that included two birdies. Ream's 40-40 split for the two nines was good enough to place her in a tie for sixth overall in the tournament. Lydia Back followed behind her teammate posting an 89 (+17), which placed her in a tie for 39th in the field. Taylor Cotter trailed behind Back as she finished her day with a 93 (+21) that also included a birdie on the front nine. Cotter would end up finishing 45th overall for the event. One shot back was McKenzie McManus, who fired a 94 (+22), placing her one spot behind in 46th place. Just a couple shot back, Charliese Erickson rounded out her round with a 96 (+24), finishing just two spots back of her teammate in 48th. Competing as the individual, Addison Wressel made her collegiate debut with a 98 (+26), placing in a tie for 49th on the day.
Saint Mary's ending up taking the team honors as the hosts, shooting a team score of 312 (+24), beating out Adrian College and Trine University by over ten shots. Rylee Smith of Trine was the low individual for the day, taking the medalist honors with a two-over 74, edging out her competitors by one shot.
Alma will have Friday off before returning to the roads and continuing MIAA play at Tecumseh Golf Club for MIAA Jamboree #4, hosted by Adrian College. Tee time for the shotgun start is set for 1:00 PM.
