DAYTONA BEACH, FL—Alma College Cheer took the bandshell today to defend their national title. The Scots first place lead in yesterday's prelims earned them a spot on the mat today. Alma finished with a score of 95.6112, beating out 2nd place Brenau University by 4.0765 points.
After a few small falls on the first day, the Scots came back strong to have a perfect performance on the bandshell. They had zero deductions, also known as "hitting zero." This hit on the bandshell sealed their fate to win their 3rd title in a row 4+ points over their competitors. They were the only team in their category to receive zero deductions.
This is the team's 3rd consecutive title in the Advanced Division, and their 5th title overall, the first two being won in the Intermediate Division.
The Scots will finish their season at STUNT Nationals in Dallas, TX, April 27-29. Here, they will also be defending their National Title.
