Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Tennis hosted Adrian on Wednesday as they closed out MIAA play. In a narrow match, Alma pulled out the win by slimmest of margins at 5-4.
Doubles
Alma claimed a pair of wins in doubles play. Elizabeth Hill and Amanda Szymborski teamed up to win 8-7 at #1 Doubles after they took the tiebreaker 8-6. At #2 Doubles Adrian hit back with the team of Kayla Weller and Jada Zerlaut falling to the Bulldogs 8-2. Alma scored on more win at #3 Doubles courtesy of Holly Hall and Summer Stoldt. The duo won 8-5, and Alma led 2-1 after doubles play .
Singles
In singles play, Adrian kept things tight, but Alma held out to take the win. Adrian won at #1, #4, and #5. At 1, Kayla Weller fell by scores of 6-1, 6-3. At 4, Elixabeth Hill was able to push things to three sets, but ultimately was dropped by a final of 0-6, 6-1, 3-6. Finally, at 5 Singles, Sumer Stoldt was felled by a 6-2, 6-4 decision.
Alma scored three wins to secure the W. At #2, Amanda Szymborski won in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. Jada Zerlaut also claimed victory at #3 by final score of 6-3, 6-1. Finally, Bronwyn McAlindon dispatched of her opponent at #6 by identical scores of 7-5, 7-5.
Alma ends MIAA play with the wins, and looks to Saturday to wrap up their season against Spring Arbor.
