GRAND RAPIDS, MI--On Sunday, March 26, Alma College Cheer travelled to Grand Valley State University to compete in the Annual Laker Cheer Classic. The Scots came out with a 2nd place finish, only behind DII Davenport University.
The Scots went up against many DI and DII Michigan teams. They battled Grand Valley, Eastern Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan Tech, Ferris State, Saginaw Valley, Wayne State, and Davenport. They were the only DIII program in the meet.
The Scots gave a solid performance to place them above many other talented programs from the state. Coach Sabourin says, "I'm really proud of the fight that the team had today. It wasn't our best performance, but with a week left to perfect before Nationals, we feel good about where we are at!"
Sabourin also notes that their routine is "jam-packed" and that the team's tumbling is at a level that they have never had before. She is very excited for everyone to see the routine!
The Competitive Cheer and Dance Team of Alma College will showcase their routines on Saturday, April 1st at 2PM in Art Smith Arena. The event is free and open to the public.
The Scots travel to Daytona Beach, FL to defend their DIII Advanced All-Girl National Titles April 5-9th. Prelims are on April 6th, with finals on Friday, April 7th.
