League of Legends Completes Perfect Season, Wins Peach Belt Conference Title

Aiken, SC – Alma College League of Legends put their 7-0 record on the line when they took on Florida Southern College in the finals of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. Alma backed up their regular season title with a tournament championship.

Game 1 – Alma Wins (Alma 1, Florida Southern College 0)

Alma didn't get off to the exact start that they were hoping for. Florida Southern was playing with a new strategy, unfamiliar to the Scots, and FSC took advantage of it. While Alma was still feeling their way into the game, and figuring out how to counter this new strategy, Florida Southern racked up several player eliminations, and were severely on the back foot. The Scots absorbed the onslaught for roughly 15 minutes, before settling in and finding their groove against the1-3-1 that was being employed by their opponents.

Things turned around on the next FSC lunge, and Alma was able to catch them out, earning several player eliminations, and pushing back into FSC territory. Finally, Alma went in on another big offensive push, and took control of the game. From there it was simple for the Scots to grab objectives and work their way down the opposition base. The game ended after Alma added a little more gas to their final push.

Game 2 – Alma Wins (Alma 2, Florida Southern College 0)

Alma once again was on the back foot to start game two. The Scots had seen the strategy that FSC was using, and had adapted to it, but a different hero draft saw Alma struggle off the jump again. The differing heroes in each role caused a bit of confusion and another adjustment period. FSC was more than happy to take advantage and push Alma back hard. The Scots even found themselves defending the left lane at the start of their own base, but FSC made the mistake of pushing too far.

The Scots eliminated all 5 heroes on the other team, and took control. Alma pushed all the way back, picking up objectives and milestones on the way to gain more power and gold. In the end, the Scots were able to push all the way through and win the game.

Alma's win sees them finish their season a perfect 8-0, secures them their first Peach Belt Conference title in program history, and Alma looks to improve on this success moving forward.
