Alma, MI – Alma College Esports is headed to South Carolina.
The Scots took on Kennesaw State yesterday in the Peach Belt Conference League of Legends. Conference Tournament. By finishing the regular season 6-0, the Scots had picked up the top seed, and earned a bye through the quarterfinals. Alma took on the 4th seeded Owls, who had beaten 5-seed USC-Aiken the day before.
Game 1 – Alma Wins at 48:23 (Alma 1, Kennesaw State 0)
The Scots jumped out to an early control in game one, picking up key milestones early to build momentum. Alma registered the first hero elimination of the game, first dragon kill, and first turret destroyed. The Scots slowly used a controlled early game to build up power and buffs, before a slight overpush allowed the Owls to eliminate all 5 Alma heroes, in what is known as an Ace. This gave KSU all the momentum, and put Alma on their heels.
The tide turned when the Scots picked up an ace of their own, and grabbed an Elder Dragon buff. Although they did not strike on the first elder dragon, they capitalized on the second, using it to push forward, and end the game after nearly 50 minutes.
The Scots led in total hero eliminations by a total of 26-14 in game one, and had nearly a 15k gold advantage.
Game 2 – Alma Wins at 24:20 (Alma 2, Kennesaw State 0)
Alma got a favorable hero draft in game two, and used it to their advantage in game two. In just half the time of game one, Alma pushed all the way to the Kennesaw base, on an elimination spree for most of the game. Alma registered 19 hero eliminations to just 3 for KSU, and had racked up a 13.9k gold advantage, allowing them, to gain power much more quickly than their counterparts.
The win for the Scots means they will travel to the campus of USC-Aiken to take on 2-seed Florida Southern in-person in the conference finals. You can catch the livestream of the event on Twitch HERE.
