ADRIAN, Mich. – The Alma College men's wrestling team competed at the MIAA Individual Tournament host at Adrian College on Saturday, February 4th. The Scots had two wrestlers place top four in their respective divisions.
Wyatt Raab was one of the Scots who ended up placing fourth-place in the 157 division. Raab started his day with a win by fall (0:43) over Christian Hernandez from Olivet. Raab was then defeated by Lakin Webb from Trine before bouncing back with a win from medical forfeit over Jerimiah Mason also from Olivet. Raab then won by fall (0:52) over Ramiro Guerrero from Olivet to put himself into the third-place bout. Raab would eventually be defeated by fall (6:32) by Webb to end the day fourth in the conference.
Freshman Eddie Williams was the other Scots who found himself near the top of the conference bracket. Williams began his tournament with a loss in extra time to Jack Smith from Albion. Williams then won his next match of the day by medical forfeit before facing off against Owen Guilford from Olivet. Williams was also credited a win by medical forfeit which put him into the third-place match. Williams took the mat against John Browning from Trine in which Williams came out victorious by major decision (16-4) ending his tournament at third for the conference in the 174 division.
Other Scots who recorded a win on the day included Tyler Demory, Dominic Megdanoff, Dakota Quinlan, and Brody Miskimon. Dametrius Castillo and Calvin Huggler both added two wins, one of each by fall for both wrestlers. Will Vernier collected three wins for the tournament, two coming by decision.
The Scots will now turn their eyes towards the Mid-State Championships taking place on Saturday, February 11th.
