Box Score OLIVET, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball team traveled south down 127 to take on conference foe Olivet College in a midday matchup. The Scots hung around throughout the game though they fell short, losing this decision to the Comets 66-54.
Alma Jumped out to an early lead over Olivet but both teams fought hard and made it anyone's game early on. After Alma took a small early advantage, Olivet responded and made a lead of their own. The Scots found themselves losing grip to the Comets late in the first half and looked for a way to claw back into single a single-digit deficit. Alma went into half time trailing the Comets 32-21.
The Scots started the second half getting the defensive stops they needed, but struggled offensively. The Scots would find some rhythm about four minutes in and tightened the game up to a one-possession game from offensive conversions by Tyshaun Walker and Connor Riley. Olivet would go on a run of their own to increase the lead again but the Scots were not done yet. Alma would again bring the deficit down to three points with ten minutes remaining in the game. The Scots would battle hard with the Comets for the next several minutes, but foul trouble would become a factor holding Alma back the rest of gameplay. Olivet would extend their lead from the line and with some defensive stops and Alma would drop the match 66-54.
Walker led the scoring for the Scots coming off the bench for a game-high 20 points. Walker also added four steals, which led the team. Peyton Bush and Riley tied to lead the Scots with eight rebounds for the game. Colton Meister had another strong showing in the block department adding three more on to his season total.
The Scots find themselves back at home on Wednesday, January 18th, as they take on Trine University. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
