ALMA, Mich. -- The Alma College women's tennis team came up short in their match against the Trine University Thunder on Sunday, April 3 at home. The Scots dropped their match 2-7, despite two demanding wins at 3 doubles and 6 singles.
The player to watch was senior
Emily McDonald, who went 2 for 2 on the day. She and fellow senior
Emma Lloyd won their 3 doubles flight in a dramatic fashion. The senior duo was down 0-3 after a rocky start and battled back to win the set 8-6. McDonald then went on to clench the win at the 6 singles flight 6-4, 6-2.
"The women fought hard and gave themselves lots of chances in spots today. However, the slow starts came back and hurt us in the end. We have to give credit to Trine, they are a good team and responded every time we made a push," said head coach Jared Guy.
The Scots will be back in action looking for their first conference win against the Kalamazoo College Hornets on Tuesday, April 4 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
