Wittenberg, OH – Alma Men's Basketball was on the road on Monday to take part in day 1 action at the Wittenberg Holiday Classic. Alma was defeated by the host Wittenberg 93-90. 

The game was the Scots go up by double digits early on in the game, leading 18-4 at one point. However, the home squad wasn't done by any means, and clawed their way back into the game. The Scots traded baskets with Wittenberg for most of the half, with the Tigers taking a 47-42 lead into the locker room. 

The two teams would trade baskets throughout the second half, with the game being tied on several occasions. The Scots and Tigers battled down to the last possession. With under 30 seconds to play, Alma trailed 88-90. The Scots put up a long 3 that clanked off the rim, and the ensuing rebound ended up in the hoop to tie things at 90. The Tigers would put up a three of their own at the buzzer, which was no good. However the Scots fouled the shooter on the play, and the Tigers made their free throws with just 1 second left. A final heave from the visitors would be knocked down, and Alma dropped the contest 93-90.

The Scots possessed the two leading scorers in the game, with Tyshaun Walker (27 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists) and Connor Riley who posted a double-double (25 points, 10 rebounds). Alma also got 18 points from Landen Moore-Pierce, who also chipped in 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Colton Meister added 10 points and 4 boards. 

Alma drops to 3-5, and has under 24 hours of rest until they suit up against Ohio Weselyan tomorrow.
