Alma Competes Against Nationally Ranked Opponents in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – The Alma College men's wrestling team traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to take part in the 2022 Gator "Boots" Duals, hosted by Luther College. The Scots competed against #17 Alvernia University, #25 Luther College, and Augustana College (IL). The Scots were dropped in all three matches on the day.

Alma started off the day facing off against 17th ranked Alvernia and were defeated by a final score of 50-6. Collecting the lone win for the Scots was Dakota Quinlan who defeated James King by fall and putting Alma on the board.

In Alma's second dual of the day, the Scots faced off against host Luther College, who is also nationally ranked, and fell by a final score of 56-0.

In their final dual of the day, Alma took on Augustana College (IL). The Scots fell to the Vikings by a final score of 39-6. Tyler Demory recorded a win by decision over Jack Reina in the 125 division. Alma would have five matches that were decided by decision in their final dual of the day.

Alma will now take the holidays off before they return to competition on January 3rd, when they host Olivet College in Art Smith Arena. The MIAA conference matchup is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
