ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's wrestling team competed at the Adrian Duels this past Saturday, November 12th. Alma was defeated in the three matches against their opponents.
In their first match of the day, the Scots battled against West Liberty University and fell by a final score of 37-12. Dakota Quinlan defeated Matt Englehardt in the 133-weight class to put Alma on the board early. Alma's next win would come from Brenden Kurtze by decision over Zac Sampson for the 165 class. Rounding out the wins against West Liberty was Joseph Maier who won by decision over Jamie Kilmer to continue his strong start to the season.
Alma then fell to Southwestern Michigan College by a final score of 51-0 in their second match of the day.
In their final match of the duels, Alma competed against Ohio Northern University. The Scots were defeated by the Polar Bears by a final score of 47-6. Collecting his first collegiate win was freshman Maxamus Kyser who won by fall over Sean Gast for the 197-weight class.
The Scots continue to record many "firsts" for the underclassman and look to use those positives to propel them at the Olivet College Duels, which will take place on Saturday, November 19th. The first match will begin at 10 a.m.
