Women's Tennis Falls at Trine, 7-2

Angola, Ind.- The Alma College women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 defeat at Trine University on Wednesday (April 25). 

The Scots (0-7 MIAA, 3-14 overall) picked up a point at No. 1 singles when freshman Brooke Butterfield (Portland, Mich./Portland) defeated Trine's Madison Hatkevich 6-2, 6-2, snapping a nine-match losing streak in the top flight. 

The No. 1 doubles team of Butterfield and freshman Lucy McCarthy (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) took on Madison Hatkevich and Zoe Laubach and posted a 9-7 victory. McCarthy and Butterfield have competed in the top doubles spot in the last nine matches and have posted a 3-6 record. 

Up Next 

The Scots will face off against Saint Mary's College on Saturday, April 28, in their last event of the season. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Notre Dame, Indiana.
