Women's Tennis falls to Adrian, 8-1

Alma, Mich.- The Alma College women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat to Adrian College on Wednesday (April 11) in a match hosted by the Scots. 

Alma (3-11 overall, 0-5 MIAA) earned their only point of the match at No. 1 doubles, as the team of freshmen Brooke Butterfield (Portland, Mich./Portland) and Lucy McCarthy (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) defeated Adrian's Renae Almasy and Samantha Cyrus 8-3. McCarthy and Butterfield are 2-7 overall in the No. 1 spot. 

Butterfield took the No. 1 singles match into a tiebreaker decision against the Bulldogs' Almasy. The final point was awarded to Adrian in a 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-8) finish.  

Up Next

The Scots host Olivet College on Saturday, April 14, in the Stone Recreation Center. The match is scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. start and was moved indoors to avoid inclement weather.
