Women's tennis wins at Concordia, 5-4

Ypsilanti, Mich. - The Alma College women's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak on Tuesday (March 21) afternoon, defeating Concordia University Ann Arbor by a 5-4 margin at the Chippewa Tennis Club.

The match came down to the No. 6 singles contest, where junior Amy Wood (Grand Rapids, Mich./City) battled back from an opening set loss to win the second set, 6-4, before taking the match tiebreaker by a 10-8 margin to give Alma its third win of the year.

Wood also helped the Scots pick up their only doubles point in the match, teaming up with senior Chloe Ramsey (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) for a victory at No. 3 doubles. Ramsel also won her match at No. 4 singles.

Freshman Caroline Ross (Sandusky, Mich./Sandusky) was victorious in three sets at No. 2 singles, while freshman Jessica Penhale (Ishpeming, Mich./Ishpeming) triumphed at No. 5 singles in straight sets as the Scots took four of the six singles matchups.

Alma will open conference play on Sunday, April 2, hosting Albion College for a noon match.
