Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Albion College on Wednesday (April 27) afternoon at the Alma College Tennis Courts. The Scots, which have dropped six of their last seven outings, fell to 4-11 overall and 1-6 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Alma was swept in the doubles matches, but picked up a win at No. 1 singles, where senior Megan Solano (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) defeated Albion's Heather Vogt by a 6-3, 6-3, margin.
The Scots' other victory came at No. 3 singles, where senior Paige Pontious (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia) posted a 6-2, 6-3, win over Lauren Rasmussen.
Alma will close out the 2016 campaign on Saturday, April 30, when it hosts Saint Mary's College. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Alma College Tennis Courts.
