Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Alma College women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 setback to St. Francis on Saturday, Feb. 27, playing its second straight match at the Wildwood Racquet Center. The Scots are now 1-3 on the season.
Senior Megan Solano (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) was victorious in both of her matches, winning by a 5-7, 6-0, 11-9 margin over Grace Heise at No. 1 singles before teaming with senior Nicki Malekadeli (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow) to defeat Brittany Barger and Kaylin Gibson, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles.
Alma's other point came at No. 3 singles, where senior Paige Pontious (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia) defeated Shelby Richardson in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
The Scots will continue their spring break trip on Sunday, Feb. 28, traveling to Rensselaer, Ind., to face Saint Joseph's College. The match is schedule for a 10:00 a.m. start.
