The Alma College Women's Tennis team capped off the 2015 season on Saturday, welcoming Trine University (IN) to campus for a match at the Superior Street Tennis Complex. The Scots battled all afternoon but would ultimately fall to the Thunder 5-4 at home.
Alma ends the year with a 6-9 overall record and a 2-6 mark in the MIAA. Trine improves to 7-5 on the year and 2-2 in league play with the win.
The tandem of Jr. Megan Solano (Trenton/Trenton) and Sr. Morgan Waier (Grand Blanc/Grand Blanc) got the Scots on the board first, earning the 8-0 victory at first doubles.
Trine would claim the final two doubles matches to take the 2-1 lead in to singles action.
Solano would collect her 16th win of the season at first singles, getting the 6-1,6-3 victory to knot the score at 2-2.
Waier followed with a 7-5,6-4 win at second position to put the Scots up 3-2.
Following a Thunder victory at third flight, Jr. Paige Pontious (Caledonia/Caledonia) would give Alma the lead back with a 6-3,6-0 win.
The visitors would close out the match by winning the next two singles matches to hand the Scots the 5-4 loss at home.
